Black lettering. This is a collection of 43 photographic plates, in full-color, with accompanying text. A limited printing of 1'000 copies s…igned and numbered copies. This is number 0244. In Portuguese throughout. 172 loose pages, plus an index. Dated 1973 on title page. Good condition. Pages are slightly toned, but clean and free of any marks or writing. Paper portfolio is lightly toned and foxed. Free of any creases or tears. Hardcover folder is foxed. Head of the spine is worn. Overall light foxing. A small handwritten label, with the number 10,636 at the foot of the spine. This is most likely Thomas Lovejoy's personal library inventory system. Overall good condition. This book is from the collection of Thomas Lovejoy. Dr. Lovejoy was an influential ecologist, field biologist, and activist; former head of the Amazon Biodiversity Center, World Wildlife Fund, and advisor to the United Nations and Smithsonian Institution. He is credited with introducing the term 'biological diversity' to the mainstream environmental movement. In addition, he was a passionate collector of books on the natural world.
