    Condition: Very Good. 1951. No Edition Stated. 60 pages. Illustrated red and blue dust jacket over red and blue cloth. Illustrated throughout with black and white photographs and drawings. Colour illustrated endpapers. Binding remains firm. Pages are moderately tanned throughout. Moderate tanning to pastedowns and endpapers. Illustrations remain bright and clear. Boards have moderate edge wear with slight rubbing to surfaces. Moderate crushing to spine ends. Moderate tanning and foxing to textblock. Unclipped dust jacket has moderate wear to edges, with chips and tears to spine and corners. Heavy fading to spine.

    FIRST EDITION, frontispiece portrait of John Barran, followed by a portrait of the current Chairman (both of these duplicated), 17 photographic plates and line-drawings to the text, errata slip tipped in at rear, pp. [xv], 60, 4to, original cloth illustarted with an overall lithographed design by Barnett Freedman wrapping round, his designs to the endpapers also, dustjacket repeating board design, slightly nicked and rubbed at extremities, very good. A centenary volume outlining the history of the clothing manufacturer, from Victorian beginnings - with its visionary founder creating 'a new industry' - through the challenges of both World Wars and the 'six years of queasy peace' following. The author was its latest director until the year of publication.
