This book is a humorous collection of lectures that explore various topics, from the nature of nonsense in poetry to the fascination of women and men. The author, a university professor, presents these lectures as if they were being given in a real classroom, complete with digressions and jokes. This approach makes for a lively and engaging read, as the author's enthusiasm for his subject matter is evident on every page. Through the lens of literature, philosophy, and social commentary, the author explores the complexities of human nature, the absurdities of modern life, and the enduring power of the arts. The book is full of insights into the human condition, and it is sure to provoke thought and laughter in equal measure. Ultimately, this book is a celebration of the power of words and ideas to entertain, enlighten, and inspire. It is a must-read for anyone who loves to learn, laugh, and think. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Add to basketPaperback. Condition: new. Keeling, Satyr (illustrator). Paperback. In the quaint town of Whispering Pines, Kyren and his loyal dog Bruno found themselves in an unexpected battle to save their town-and their tech-from a band of gadget-hungry aliens. With quick thinking, bravery, and a vat of banana pudding, they turned a regular day at the mall into an epic tale of heroism. This story reminds us that courage can come in the most unassuming forms and that sometimes, the best weapon against a high-tech invasion is a simple fruit dessert. Thank you for joining Kyren and Bruno on this delightful and imaginative journey that proves even the ordinary can become extraordinary when faced with intergalactic challenges. Photograph
The gelatin silver print is behind a circular mat (visible image size approximately 135 mm in diameter), behind slightly convex glass. The wooden frame is fashioned from timber with a half-round profile (depth 35 mm, inner diameter 200 mm, outer diameter 315 mm), thick with white paint; rope is attached to it with cloth painted black; the ship's name is also in black paint. The suitably grizzled subject, gaunt, with a pipe clenched between his lips (and gums - we suspect he has few teeth), is unidentified. There have been two Royal Navy vessels named HMS 'Satyr'. The first one is presumably the ship in question: she was an R-class destroyer, launched in 1916; she served in the First World War and was broken up in 1926. The second one (P214) was an S-class submarine, launched in September 1942; she served in the Second World War and was broken up in 1962.
