Gr.-8vo. XXIV, 932 S. Zeitgenössischer Halblederband mit gepr. Rückentitel. Erste Ausgabe von Schaps Hauptwerk, als Ergänzungsband zu Hermann Staubs "Kommentar zum Handelsgesetzbuch" erschienen. - Schaps (1867-1918) promovierte nach seinem Studium an den Universitäten Breslau, Leipzig und Berlin im Jahre 1887 bei Levin Goldschmidt und schlug danach die Richterlaufbahn ein, die ihn bis zum Landgerichtsdirektor in Hamburg und zum Reichsgericht nach Leipzig führte. Schaps war neben Jacob Friedrich Behrend erst der zweite Jude im Kaiserreich, der zum Reichsgerichtsrat berufen wurde. Sein vorliegendes Hauptwerk, das nach Schaps Tod von seinem Schwiegersohn Julius Sebba weitergeführt wurde, wies ihn als international anerkannten Seerechtler aus.
