ÖBL X, 75 f.- Einzige italienische Ausgabe der Übersetzung von "Abhandlung über die vorzüglichste Art an Flüssen und Strömen zu bauen".- Joseph Maria Schemerl von Leythenbach (1754-1844) studierte 1777-1779 in den Niederlanden und in…Deutschland das System der Kanalbauten, anschließend arbeitete er in Laibach (zuletzt als Straßenbaudirektor), an der Schiffbarmachung der Flüsse Sava und Ljubljanica und anderen Projekten (in Laibach baute er unter anderem auch ein neues Schlachthaus). Vor 1799 kam Schemerl nach Wien, wo er 1799-1803 den Wiener Neustädter Kanal bis zur Leitha ausbaute, sich aber auch um die Donauregulierung Verdienste erwarb (für die er 1810 das erste durchgreifende Projekt mit Anwendung eines Durchstichs bei Wien entwarf. Unter Schemerls Leitung entstand 1815-1818 der Entwurf für das frühklassizistische Gebäude des Polytechnikums (Technische Universität in Wien).- Titel stark fleckig, restauriert und mit Fehlstellen im Text. Papier wasserrandig und stockfleckig.
