(Vorwort) // Peter Scheunemann (* 7. Januar 1870 in Hamburg; 27. Mai 1937 in Bad Nauheim) war ein deutscher Offizier und Verwaltungsbeamter in Kamerun. . In Kamerun wurde Scheunemann 1901 zum Leiter der Station Jaunde ernannt. 1904 wurde er mit der Verwaltung des Sanga-Ngoko-Gebietes beauftragt. Zwischen 1901 und 1906 war er durch die Kämpfe gegen Yesum, Njem, Ndzimu und So maßgeblich an der Unterwerfung des östlichen Kameruner Waldlands beteiligt. Im Mai 1906 kehrte er vorübergehend zur Küste zurück. Im Mai 1907 wurde er zum Führer der 9. Kompanie und Bezirksleiter des Dume-Bezirks ernannt. Durch seine Forschungs- und Sammeltätigkeit trug er auch zur wissenschaftlichen Kenntnis der Region erheblich bei. Eine zoologische Sammlung überließ er dem Museum für Naturkunde in Berlin, andere Bestände gingen an die Kolonialsammlung der preußischen Geologischen Landesanstalt in Berlin. .
