Neuware -Im Kreis der 43 Gauleiter des 'Großdeutschen Reiches' zählte Martin Mutschmann zu den mächtigsten: Es gab nur wenige regionale Parteiführer, die neben der politischen Leitung des Gaus auch die entscheidenden staatlichen Führungspositionen in den Händen hielten und überdies zu Hitlers frühest…en Gefolgsleuten zählten. Seit 1925 war er Gauleiter der sächsischen NSDAP, seit 1933 Reichsstatthalter und seit 1935 Ministerpräsident in Sachsen. 1939 kam der einflussreiche Posten eines Reichsverteidigungskommissars hinzu. Noch Anfang 1945, aus Anlass seines 20-jährigen Gauleiter-Jubiläums, ließ er sich von der eigenen Presse als einen der 'tatkräftigsten und fanatischsten Gefolgsmänner des Führers' feiern. Nach Kriegsende versuchte Mutschmann Richtung Westen zu fliehen. Doch er kam nicht weit: Am 16. Mai 1945 wurde er in Tellerhäuser (Erzgebirge) von deutscher 'Antifa' verhaftet und einen Tag später der sowjetischen Besatzungsmacht übergeben. Seitdem verlor sich seine Spur im Dunkel der Geschichte.Die hier erstmals ausgewerteten sowjetischen Akten zum 'Fall Mutschmann' fördern brisante Details und Zusammenhänge zutage: Mutschmanns frühe Überstellung nach Moskau, die interne Suche nach einem angemessenen Tribunal, schließlich das sowjetische Geheimverfahren und Mutschmanns Exekution Anfang 1947. Die Akten bieten aber auch neue Einblicke in Mutschmanns 'Vorleben' als Unternehmer und Gauleiter. Und sie lassen deutlich werden, was es im Konkreten hieß, wenn Stalins Justiz nationalsozialistische Verbrechen ahndete.
