Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Good. The is a play by German author and playwright Kleist. Nollen writes the introduction and summarizes the play. Kleist's drama is in German, about 140 pages. The book is about 5" x 7" with a burgandy cloth cover and the cover ahs four shields, the title and author embossed on the cover in gilt which has… faded and black letter of title on the spine. There is some edge wear on the upper and lower edges of the cover. The pages have mellowed and are are a light beige but the printing is clear and the binding is tight. The book has notes in pencil and in cursive on the blank endpapers and prior owner's name in address in black ink. This is a key religious tract by Scholte in which he claimed the right to absolute freedom of religion. This was denied and Scholte and his followers came to the United States in 1847 to found the settlement of Pella, Iowa. No copies listed in the NUC. Rare.
