A group of three commercially printed register/ledgers filled out in manuscript._____ All are from schools in District 59 in Harvey County, Kansas, dated from 1875 to 1900._____ I. McVicar, P.; Teacher's Register; / For the Use of / Public and Private Schools; Crane & Byron; Topeka; 1872/nd; (40pp) _____Oblong ledger, 9 x 11.5", rather shabby, with several pages free and at least one missing._____ The first 28 pages are a daily attendance register of pupils by name. _____ At least the first sheet is missing but the rest covers the period from Oct.4, 1875 to Jan. 29, 1879._____ Followed by two filled in pages of "General Enrollment for the Year.", the only date being for the period from Oct. 1878 to Jan. 1879. _____ Lists students, parents name, residence and where born. The next four pages list the courses offered from Sept, 1874 to Jan. 1879, with number of pupils enrolled and the author of the textbook used._____ Concludes with two pages of a "Visitors' Register" signed by attendees listing their residences, dated from Oct. 1875 to Feb. 1879. _____ According to Sanders' Harper County history, the school district was not organized until 1879._________ II. In a good case of living close to the edge, closed 1883 with a total of 41 cents in the school fund._____ "Annual Statistical Report" from 1879 to 1903. _____ Census data for public and private schools by gender, grade, age etc. Also values of assets and mil levy amounts. _____ Concludes with the minutes of the annual and special board meetings from 1880 to 1899. __________ III.
