The book is illustrated with 13 half-tone photos, including portraits of the author, Edward Whymper, Charles Wollaston, and Sir Edward Davidson. It is covered in blue cloth with gilt lettering on the spine. CONDITION. VG-. The pages are clean and tight, though there is a small brown stain on the fore edge. The corners and ends of the spine are lightly rubbed, and the spine is faded. No marks of ownership.

First edition. Illustrated with several double-page maps. Elected to the St Ives Society of Artists in 1961, Victor's art was deeply rooted in his love of nature and the landscapes he explored. His formative journey began as an escape from the steelworks of Sheffield to the quiet countryside of nearby Derbyshire, which he fondly described as 'Paradise'. 'I spent many weekends tramping the hills and dales, camping or sleeping rough, scrambling through caves and potholes, and climbing the gritstone edges,' he recalled.
