Comme telle, elle ne saurait être changée que par une autre loi, un nouvel acte de la voluntas populi. Si le texte peut recevoir des amendements, cest avant le vote populaire, comme la montré Cl. Nicolet. On peut certes prendre quelque distance dans son application pour les relations internationales, si on suit les fines analyses que H. Braunert a récemment données du Pro Balbo. Enfin et surtout il est certain que lenseignement de la rhétorique, si directement axé sur des méthodes empruntées aux Grecs, a véhiculé des conceptions sur la valeur du document écrit, fûtil la loi elle-même, qui inclinaient les esprits à rechercher derrière les textes lintention du rédacteur. - Wikipedia: William Seston, né à Lasalle (Gard) le 2 juin 1900 et mort à Mazamet (Tarn) le 2 octobre 1983, est un historien et épigraphiste français spécialiste de l'histoire de l'Empire romain.
