The price cut dust jacket is very good with bright green and black and a nice drawing of horse, driver and sulky in gray on the cover. some wear along edges.

Priced 7/6d. *A book about horses and "trotting" horses by this neglected writer who died very young at 49 and was compared with Chekov at the time this book was published two years after he died of tuberculosis. A writer who's output was curtailed by 10 years in a Siberian Prison and a harsh existence, with only 3-4 novels and a few short stories to his legacy. It recalls the life of one jockey/trainer from pre-revolution Russia in 1915 and his passion for breeding a race-horse to outshine all others.
