Satz seiner Symphonie Nr. 14, Op. 135 "De profundis" notiert. Die Symphonie für Sopran- und Bass-Solo und Kammerorchester auf Texte von F. Garcia Lorca G. Apollinaire, W. Küchelbecker und R. M. Rilke, hat Schostakowitsch Anfang 1969 vollendet und Benjamin Britten gewidmet; das aus insgesamt sieben Teilen bestehende Werk wurde durch Rudolf Barschai im selben Jahr in Leningrad uraufgeführt.
