    Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - Frieda Sichel (1889-1976) entstammte der jüdischen Verlegerfamilie Gotthelft in Kassel. Sie gehörte zur ersten Generation von Frauen in Deutschland, die Zugang zu höherer Bildung hatten. Nach dem Besuch privater Realgymnasialkurse legte sie das Abitur ab und studierte in München, Berlin, Freiburg und Heidelberg Nationalökonomie und Soziologie. Sie wurde 1915 mit einer Arbeit über 'John Stuart Mills sozialpolitische Wandlungen' promoviert. 1918 heiratete sie ihren Cousin Karl Hermann Sichel, 1919 wurde eine Tochter, 1923 ein Sohn geboren. Frieda Sichel engagierte sich in jüdischen Vereinen und in der Kasseler Frauenbewegung. Ab 1933 hatte die Familie unter rassistischer Verfolgung zu leiden und emigrierte 1935 nach Südafrika. Dort konnte Karl Sichel schnell als Architekt wieder Fuß fassen und Frieda Sichel arbeitete sehr erfolgreich als Sozialarbeiterin. 1975 publizierte sie in Johannesburg ihre Lebenserinnerungen, die hier erstmals kommentiert in deutscher Übersetzung vorliegen.
