Hardcover. Condition: Very Good+. Mottled cloth; oblong (170 x 140 mm); contains 50 photographs mounted direct to the recto and verso of black leaves. Most are silver prints, plus a platinum (a large image of breaking waves) and a cyanotype; average size about 4 x 2.75 inches, with some a bit smaller or larger. Backstrip torn; a few leaves detached. Taken by (or related to) an artist who appears to have specialized in architectural ornamentation. Includes snapshots depicting figures and buildings from different vantage points, views of the studio (including a close-up of drawings pinned to the wall), a besmocked artist in front of an easel, scenes of family, a besmocked artist in front of an easel. And kittens! Plus a cyanotype of a classroom.

(illustrator). 1st Edition. Léon HERSCHTRITT (born in Paris, 1936). This portfolio of 10 photographs brings together poetic images revealing the intimacy of the couple in love. Initially 300 copies were planned (as stated on the limitation page), However, the final run was actually only 120 copies. The 10 mounted photographs Plus the cover page (which gives a review of the photographer, number 000/300, and signature in full), are housed in the original clamshell cloth box with a photograph to the lid. MEASUREMENTS: The actual image size of 9 photographs is 28 X 19 Cms. and one measures: 25.75 X 19 Cms. The overall size of each photograph with the mount is 50 X 40 Cms. CONDITION: Two tears to the side of the box lid; otherwise very good. Bought From the collection of Colin Osman (1926-2001). He was the founder and editor of the seminal photographic magazine CREATIVE CAMERA. He was also the owner of an extraordinary archive - in part through the portfolios deposited with the magazine.
