Soft cover. Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. Fine, as noted; see description and scans. San Francisco: The Sierra Club, 1957. The June, 1957 issue of The Sierra Club Bulletin, that being Volume 42, Number 6. Octavo, glosst perfect-bound wraps, 92 pp. Fine, as originally received, though as-originally-received in this specific case did include tiny micro wear at the top edge, front cover - barely visible in that scan, which see. Otherwise, flawless. Extraordinarily handsome example. Cover photo, by Cedric Wright, is of the John Muir Trail in the High Sierra; the theme of the issue - Wildlife in Our Civilization - was that of the Fifth Biennial Wildlife Conference, from which most of this issue's content was taken. The SC doing its environmental activism early and often, as it always has, so much better than so many others. There is no "civilization" in the normal sense within, of course; just gorgeous photos by masters like Wright, Philip Hyde, David Simmons and Lee Talbot, with memorable accompanying text (see scan of contents page for details) by those gentlemen as well as David R. Brower, A. Starker Leopold, Lowell Sumner, William Bridge Cook, Don M. Wilson and of course editor August Frugé, on topics including the Northern Cascades, Beavers, Wilderness Fung, Spider Rock and much else. The photography is, of course, a very impressive tour de force by the mentioned foursome. Please see scans. LSC2. Cedric Wright, Philip Hyde, David Simmons, Lee Talbot (illustrator).

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Lot of 36 titles from the Arno / New York Times Series The American Negro, His History and his literature. All told, the volumes are clean and well kept. From the home of a well regarded historian of Black studies. Also was a tobacco smoker, and that combined with age has led to occasional toning / darkening of the tan cloth part of these hardcover volumes - though without any consistency, it is present to some degree on nearly all. Faint odor as well, especially for those of sensitive nose, though to this seller it is not egregious. Besides that, the condition is pretty solid on all. Binding are all quite strong, sturdy, tight , square. No markings were found in any of the books, and no other damage to interiors at all. One volume has some fraying to the edge of the cloth of the front, and some of the volumes have lesser or greater degrees of rubbing, scuffing, dustsoiling, but all told clean beyond the toning. Uncommon to find so many in one place. Shipping will be extra ! pickup available in NYC. Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. While Grimsho has flourished with Annie leading the people towards a brighter future, Amilmamir had left something unfinished in his homeland. Once again, a Nermakiir is called upon. War and death continue to plague Tuarenlin, with no explanation to the people as to why they must fight when they all know death is the only outcome. The Oracle asks Erik Amilmamir Nermakiir to step up to the task. All he wants is a quiet life surrounded by family, yet he has grown up in several locations, across many lands, as he completed the training that would make him more than just a regular ranger. Alternately called a hero and an abomination, he struggles to find his place amidst the names, his history, and his legacy. Called upon to sacrifice and protect, the heroes of the past once again take a place at the side of a Nermakiir. It now falls to Erik to determine if he's ready for the inheritance waiting for him. This third book in the Ranger series filled out the backgrounds of many of the people from the first two books, including Nang and Vicarious, while telling the story of Erik Nermakiir. Carrying the heritage of two different peoples and paths, he discovers who he is when adversity puts him at its center. This item is printed on demand. Shipping may be from our UK warehouse or from our Australian or US warehouses, depending on stock availability. Simmons, Hyde; Baxter, Kami Jo (illustrator).
