Dean & Son were early publishers of affordable instructional manuals. G.E. Simms also wrote another volume in the same series, Butterfly and Moth Collecting. Both were sold for one shilling. Because they were inexpensive and heavily used, few copies survived in good condition. A note by Brian O.C. Gardner, published in Entomologist Record (Vol. 113, p. 72, 2001), highlights the scacity of the work, he could only trace two copies in the British Library and Cambridge University Library respectively. Undated but Gardner and the British Library state 1899.
