Peter Skubic ist ein bedeutender österreichischer Schmuckkünstler, der zu den prägenden Persönlichkeiten der zeitgenössischen Schmuckkunst zählt. Er wurde 1935 in Wien ge…boren und hat mit seinen oft konzeptuellen und experimentellen Arbeiten wesentlich dazu beigetragen, Schmuck als eigenständige Kunstform neben Skulptur und Design zu etablieren. Quelle:KI In den 1970er und 1980er Jahren war Skubic auch in der Lehre aktiv unter anderem an der Kölner Werkschule (später Fachhochschule Köln, heute in Teilen Teil der TH Köln). Dort leitete er die Schmuckklasse und arbeitete mit zahlreichen Studentinnen und Studenten zusammen, die später selbst bedeutende Positionen in der Schmuckkunst einnahmen. Seine Lehrphilosophie war geprägt von Freiheit, Reflexion und kritischer Haltung gegenüber Konventionen er forderte dazu auf, Schmuck nicht nur als dekoratives Objekt, sondern als Medium für Ausdruck, Körperbezug und gesellschaftliche Aussage zu verstehen.
