First edition, first printing, rare in commerce, of this tribute to morale-boosting efforts at the famous Second World War prison camp. This edition is not to be confused with the readily available facsimile edition issued in Australia in the early 1990s. Founded in 1941, the A.I.F. Concert Party transformed following the fall of Singapore from a travelling troupe into an entertainment mainstay at Changi, staging increasingly elaborate performances (eventually staged in a specially built theatre) through to the Japanese surrender. "Two of our number [i.e. the authors], at least, have gone on with a scheme hatched out during the long months of their imprisonment. They have collected the names of some of the men whose few leisure hours were brightened by their efforts and have produced this book, which capture again the memory of some of the few happy times we knew" introduction). Two copies of the publisher's advertisement order form are loosely inserted. Folio. Musical scores in text. Original illustrated card wrappers, wire-stitched as issued, front cover lettered in green and black. Wrappers and contents well-preserved with light foxing and couple of creases and nicks: a very good copy.
