Spine has heavier tanning with soft crushing to ends. Lettering remains bright and clear. Book has a slight forward lean.

Boards have moderate edge wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Mild crushing to spine ends, with fraying cloth and small splits. Book has a slight forward lean. Boards have are heavily mottled, and have minor damp and dust stains. Gilt lettering has become dull.

Along the way, Manton Smith mentions the various peaks and Alpine sights, albeit interfused with religious sentiments. 6pp of the book are given over to musical settings of the author's songs, the final 5 leaves have advertisements. The book is rare, with only two copies of the book's first edition listed by COPAC (BL, National Library of Scotland, Spurgeon's College), and none by Worldcat.
