The earliest catalogue of any part of the Uppsala University Library, describing the collections of largely Arabic books and manuscripts collected by Swedish diplomat and writer J.G. Sparvenfeld (1655-1727) during his travels to the Mediterranean and North Africa, and presented to the University. In addition to the 41 Arabic manuscripts, the collection also featured eight mss in Greek, 12 in Latin, and 54 printed books, the latter including several important biblical texts, such as the first edition of the Bible in Slavonic (Ostrog, 1581). The catalogue closes with a list of 15 further Arabic manuscripts which Spawvenfeld donated to Lund University. Size: Quarto.
