Seltene erste und einzige Ausgabe. Speth (1774-1846), Bruder von Peter Speeth, war gleichermaßen Kunsthistoriker und Kleriker. Von 1819 bis 1823 erschien sein dreibändiges Werk "Die Kunst in Italien" bei Thienemann in München, mit dem er einiges Ansehen erringen konnte. Später wurde er Capitular an der Metropolitankirche in München. Seine durchaus bedeutende Kunstsammlung (teils von Brandmüller, Schöninger und Freymann lithographiert) wurde leider 1846/1847 verkauft, bzw. auktioniert. - Vgl. Nagler, Neues allg.
