    First edition, first printing of the first book Rockwell Kent illustrated. Inscribed by Kent on the front free endpaper, "To Ernest Dawson, this first book that I illustrated and for which I received $125 - Rockwell Kent, 1933". The recipient was Ernest Dawson of the renowned Dawson's Bookshop in Los Angeles. Loosely inserted is a photo of Kent and a postcard from the bookshop offering this volume to a customer. Octavo. Frontispiece, illustrated title, and illustrations throughout by Rockwell Kent. Original blue cloth, titles and pictorial decoration to spine and front board in gilt and orange, front pastedown and free endpaper illustrated. With dust jacket. A couple of small bumps to boards, spine a little toned. Cloth very fresh. An excellent copy in the rubbed and chipped jacket with closed tears, tanned spine panel, and tape repairs to the verso.
