First edition. The complete and detailed map is presented in 16 folding separate sections, cloth backed with green edging. The first section has the complete smaller map while sections 1-15 make up the detailed larger map with all the engraved text to section 1. The whole is contained in a 4to landscaped marbled covered card folio which is worn at edges and rubbed along spine. A beautiful and rare map, very well preserved, from the time of the Franco-Austrian wars. In 1810 Salzburg was given to Napoleon's Bavarian allies but reverted to Austria in 1816. These may have been produced in order for the Austro-Hungarian Empire to have the best possible detailed maps in order to defend their crown city but by the time they were published Napoleon had won.
