Of these, the 708.6 miles of the Mohoning Division were almost inarguably the most interesting and diverse on the EL. Those mile certainly were the most important--the Erie Railroad. They proudly proclaimed that it served the "Heart of Industrial America" and nowhere on the Erie/EL did that industrial heart beat stronger and more openly than on the Mahoning Division.
