Memoirs of the celebrated Bosnian architect Ivan Straus (1928-2018), one of the leading figures of late Yugoslav and Bosnian modernist architecture. Written during the Bosnian War, the book combines autobiographical reflections with a first-hand account of the destruction of Sarajevo and its architectural heritage. ?traus recounts his professional career, the development of post-war Yugoslav architecture, and the creation of some of the most iconic buildings of socialist Yugoslavia, including Sarajevo's UNIS Twin Towers and the Holiday Inn Hotel. Straus was among the most influential architects in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a long-time member of the Sarajevo architectural practice "Arhitekt," and the author of numerous studies on Yugoslav and Bosnian architecture. His works and writings played a major role in documenting and interpreting the architectural legacy of the region in the second half of the twentieth century.
