Softcover. Condition: Near Fine. First American edition. Quarto. 8pp. Thread bound wrappers. Music shop stamp and price stamp on the front cover, light bumping to the corners, else near fine. For voice and piano. Features three pieces, "Dirge-Canons (Prelude)," "Song: Do Not Go Gentle." and "Dirge-Canons (Postlude)." Those familiar with the composer will have noticed that this piece uses an alternate spelling of Stravinsky, replacing the 'v' with a 'w,' according to *Lumen Learning* "Strawi?ski" is the Polish spelling of Stravinsky, why it was chosen for this publication we are unsure (the UK edition by the same publisher spells the name with a 'v'). The piece features a note from Stravinsky explaining his reason for writing the piece, "During the following months (after Thomas' untimely death) I thought of composing something to Dylan Thomas' memory. No poem of his could fit my purpose better than the one he had composed to the memory of his father," that poem of course being Thomas' famous, "Do No Go Gentle Into That Good Night.".
