To commemorate the building and launching of this vessel, in 1907 the magazine 'Engineering' published a comprehensive volume detailing all phases of her construction and outfitting, with special emphasis on her machinery and passenger accomodation. This book is a faithful reproduction, 80 years later, of the original volume, along with 41 additional photographs and a blueprint plan. The remarkable photographs include many unusual and hitherto unpublished views of the ship's interior, including ten from the archives of Swan Hunter and ten from the personal collection of President Franklin D. Roosevelt in the Smithsonian Institution. In addition to the photographs there are numerous diagrams and architectural renderings of boilers, steam steering-gear, and other types of interior machinery.
