Presumably from a local publication, the advert, illustrated with a crude but attractive woodcut of Mrs Swaving's French Academy. Priced at 15 Rds. per month, subjects taught at the academy included French, writing, geography, Guitar, mythology, history, and, English, under which is noted that 'an English Lady attends this class daily'.
