Sie hatte Engagements u. a. am Schlossparktheater und am Schillertheater…in Berlin, war ein häufiger Gast in Film- und Fernsehproduktionen und seit 1947 Synchronsprecherin. Für den RIAS Berlin war sie auch als Sprecherin in Hörspielen tätig. Genest war mit dem Schauspieler und Schriftsteller Aribert Wäscher, 1895-1961, verheiratet. Ihre Tochter Corinna Genest (Jg. 1938), aus einer Verbindung mit Rudolf Diels, dem ersten Chef der Gestapo, hervorgegangen, spielte an allen großen Boulevardtheatern und ist auch durch Film- und Fernsehrollen bekannt. Corinna Genest war mit dem Schauspieler Karl Schönböck verheiratet.

Opening Night program for "Totenmal," a theatrical performance in memory of the fallen soldiers in World War I, illustrated with five dramatic b/w photo-reproductions each, of Mary Wigman (Photo Ch. Rudolf, Dresden) and conductor Albert Talhoff (Photo Robertson, Berlin) during rehearsals, plus two photo-reproductions of masks. In addition the program contains a full page reproduction of the score for "Totenmal." Totenmal combines spoken text, collective movement and light. The production brought together Talhoff's concept of "Choric Theater," and Mary Wigman's choreography, Wigman alternating with Vera Skoronel as solo dancer. The role of the war demon was performed by Alexander Kamaroff. Wooden masks for the performance were carved by Bruno Goldschmitt. This program contains texts on the emergence of "Totenmal," Albert Talhoff's notes on "Totenmal," Talhoff's notes on "the word" and "fragments from the 'Dramaturgy of Language,'" Mary Wigman's personal position relating to "Totenmal," a brief bio of Wigman and the participation of Bruno Goldschmitt, and finally, comments of leading professionals on "Totenmal" and Albert Talhoff. Text in German. Wraps lightly age-toned. Albert Talhoff (Ludwig Albert Meyer) was a Swiss writer and director, born in Solothurn in 1888. The "Totenmal" is considered his major work, a dramatic vision for words, dance and light. Exploring the devastation of World War I it premiered on July 20, 1930, at a temporary theater, especially constructed for Talhoff's Totenmal on the Theresienwiese in Munich. 'Son of Josef Meyer, an employee, and Eliza (neé Rölli). He adopted a pseudonym derived from his grandparents' farm in Kriens valley. After brief periods of study in Berlin and Leipzig, he turned to stage directing. In 1909, he directed the Hertenstein open-air plays; from 1911 to 1914, he worked at the Meiningen Court Theatre (Thuringia). From 1918, he served as an editor for the Jena-based publishing house Diederichs. He was the author of religious dramas, including "Nicht weiter, o Herr!" (premiered in 1920). In 1930, Albert Talhoff directed the premiere of his ceremonial drama "Totenmal". which featured 120 performers. regarded as an Expressionist-avant-garde "dramatic-choral vision for word, dance, and light," as specified by its subtitle. He directed his final production in 1937 and returned to Switzerland in 1944. From 1945 onwards, he focused primarily on prose works.' (Translated from the Historisches Lexikon der Schweiz).
