Uno dei modi in cui si esprime la conflittualità latente che costituisce l'essere umano. Questa conflittualità non ha nulla di morale, è semplicemente un fatto con cui occorre fare i conti. Analizzare il disgusto significa compiere un passo importante in questa direzione: risalire alle ragioni della violenza che per definizione questo sentimento scatena. Ma la posta in gioco non può essere l'assenza di conflitto, cioè la pace. Essa non c'è e non è possibile raggiungerla. Quello che è possibile fare è conoscere la vita che ci abita, sottraendola alle maglie di una rimozione non meno violenta e, negli esiti, ben più perniciosa. Perché una cosa è guadagnare una consapevolezza critica su chi si è, altra cosa è negarlo, ostinandosi a lasciare nell'ombra quel che è alla luce del sole. Libro.
