Brown wrappers blocked and printed in black on the front and back wrappers. Just hints of wear to wrappers, corners square and flat, wrappers ever so lightly soiled, else near fine to fine with no internal markings. Gilbert Thayer is like to be Gilbert Lysceum Thayer who was born in Shumla, New York, in 1878 and died in Los Angeles in 1945. On his draft registration record he lists his occupation as "Self Publishing." That is certainly true, as pp. 196-205 list at least 10 books published by him, including a Cook Book, a book on curing the tobacco habit and a book entitled THE ABUSE OF THE MARRIAGE RELATION. There are also numerous ads for other things: Free Consultations at Gilbert Thayer's Health Offices, Dietorium and Treating Rooms (355 S Broadway, Los Angeles); Over 1700 Stores are Distributing Gilbert Thayer's Life-Giving Whole Grain, Graham, Whole Wheat, Rye, Cracked Wheat, Raisin, Full-Meal, and Carob Laxative Breads (this ad lists Thayer Whole Grain Baking Com, 3545 Pasadena Ave, Los Angeles); Gilbert Thayer's Restaurant at Fourth and Broadway; Gilbert Thayer's "Natural Foods". This volume, PERFECT HEALTH 1927 REDITION also contains an article by Dr. J.A. Felton entitled "The Natural Food of Man." All you need to know about perfect health!

This issue marks the first time O'Keeffe's work appeared in reproduction, according to the "notes on contributors" portion at the front of the volume. This publication followed two exhibitions at the famous 291 gallery in New York, one in 1916 and the other in 1917, owned by her future husband Alfred Stieglitz.
