Bound in stiff printed wrappers with black & white reproduction of a Rembrandt drawing on front cover. Light sunning to spine; slight edge-wear. Warmly inscribed by the author on front free endpaper. ALS laid in. Inscribed by the author to noted art historian Caroline Houser (Greek Monumental Bronze Sculpture (Thames & Hudson, 1983); Dionysos and His Circle (Fogg Art Museum, 1979)), long associated with Smith College and the Fogg. Inscription reads: "For Dr Houser, With great love and admiration. I owe it all to you, Thea." Laid in is a letter from the author to Caroline Houser concerning the publication of the book. Rembrandt (illustrator).
