In this work, the author discusses treating dropsy in pregnant women, chest dropsy with inflammation, dropsy with a fever, dropsy after the milk effusion, dropsy with ulcers in the legs, dropsy of chest with palmations, dropsy with tuberculosis engorgements, and many more useful problems that may be encountered when treating dropsy. Dropsy is the archaic term for edema, an accumulation of fluid in the interstitium, which causes a lot of pain. It is often found in the feet, ankles, and lower legs. The author, Georges-Frederic Bacher, had become famous for inventing tonic pills for the treatment of dropsy. He sold the formula to the Crown. Bacher was the Doctor-Regent of the Faculty of Medicine of Paris. A French medical work on the treatment of dropsy.

Troisième enfant et fils aîné du dauphin Louis-Ferdinand et le second de Marie-Josèphe de Saxe, Louis-Joseph de France est donc le frère des futurs rois Louis XVI, Louis XVIII et Charles X. Il est titré duc de Bourgogne par son grand-père, Louis XV. Il portait pour armes un écartelé de France et de Bourgogne ancien. À sa naissance à 4 heures du matin, les cloches des églises de Paris se mettent à sonner et le roi Louis XV décrète trois jours de chômage et d'illuminations, le nouveau-né étant héritier de la couronne de France.
