Hardback. Condition: New. This book attempts to draw lessons from the experiences of developed as well as developing countries in carrying out telecommunications reform. Contributors come from academia, as well as from stakeholders in telecommunications policy in a dozen countries, mostly in the Asia-Pacific region.Globally, the… telecommunications industry is undergoing major changes: technological advances in the form of a vast number of new digitised services, ownership shifts as state-owned carriers in many countries become fully or partly privatized, and a general transition from monopolistic to more competitive market environments. The economic and regulatory experiences derived from these changes are explored and analyzed using the USA, the UK, Australia and Singapore to represent developed and newly industrialized countries, and China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam as examples of developing countries. The conclusions outlined in this timely volume hold important lessons for these as well as for other countries. This book will be of great interest to telecommunications policymakers, public and private stakeholders in the industry, along with those - especially academics and researchers - with an interest in the progress of telecommunications in developing countries.

Hardcover. Condition: Fair. No Dust Jacket. First Edition. The Title continues = ." With a Collection Of Poems, Satyrs, Letters, Dialogues, Essays, Characters, Maxims of State Valuable Speeches, in both Houses of Parliament, by Several Lords and Commons: Printed from Original Manuscripts, that give a light into the Secret Histor…y of the Times. Written by the Late Duke of Buckingham; Duke of Lauderdal; Marquis of Halifax; Earl Of Rochester; Sir William Temple Sir Edward Seymour; Mr Dryden; Sir George Etherege. ; Mr. Cowley; Mr. Otway; Captain Ayloffe; " (and many others). In the (probably) original full leather boards, with a burgundy, (dulled) gilt title label. The boards are scruffy, scuffed and scraped, with corners through to the boards, some leather loss, and the front hinge is split and holding on with 5 of the 6 'strings'. There is some leather loss to the top and bottom of the spine, and the spine has a centre 'crack' throughout - but all boards/spine are present and holding tight. The page fore-edges are pretty age browned. Internally = plain endpapers - browned and with some light marks/grubbiness - with a full page b/w engraved portrait frontispiece of 'George. Duke. Marquess and Earle of Buckingham' . A former owners' name in old faded ink at the very top of the title page. (14) + (xiii) + (3) + 264 pp. Some page standing 'proud' of the other edges and a couple of pages coming loose due to gapping in the gutters, but overall the text block is clean, bright and tight-ish. The print is a good deep colour in general throughout. Quite Scarce in First Edition. Ask for further detail if required. See IMAGES ; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall.

Third edition. [2],184pp. Contemporary blind-stamped sheep, later rebacked, contrasting red morocco lettering-piece. Worn, corners exposed, surface loss to boards. Book-label of Peter Stewart Young Tillingham to FEP. Head of title page shaved to remove earlier inked ownership inscription, leaves browned, scattered spotting. A re…vised edition of translator and satirist Thomas Brown's (1662-1704) sketches of London. Brown, following in the footsteps of Ned Ward, discusses aplenty the numerous taverns, game-houses and motley establishments of the city with the aim of exposing the nefarious characters which inhabit them. Despite his considerable amount of published satirical and burlesque material, today Brown is primarily remembered for a glib quatrain attacking John Fell, dean of Christ Church, Oxford during his studies. ESTC T163588. Size: 8vo.

Contact seller4-star sellerAn uncommon map of the New South Wales and Queensland coast, from Cape York to Furneaux Is. with a possible association with William Blake. The paper is quite intriguing. It is printed on laid, watermarked 'Neckinger Mill', with a crest. This mill operated in Bermondsey, London between 1795-1805 by Elias Carpenter. It is thought… that William Blake may have witnessed production there, because of his interest in quality paper, and the factory being close to his home in Lambeth. Insets of Norfolk Island, Lord Howe Island and Port Jackson, Botany Bay & c. Tooley p. 239, no. 21. The Wilkinson map of 1792/4 was clearly the inspiration for this chart, with similar pink, yellow and green hand coloring, although on a larger format. Although Tooley states that this was from Brown's "A General Atlas", published in Edinburgh, [1801], this map appears not to have been published in an atlas. The National Library of Australia lists it as "1794, English, Map, Single map edition", so there is some question as to it's date of creation. Libraries Australia 45030844. Copper engraving with most attractive original hand color. Title within a double oval cartouche. Gavin & Son sculpt. Image 11 1/2 x 13 1/2" with original margins. Some light offsetting, very good overall.
