La edición veneciana de 1779 está documentada bibliográficamente y el tomo I corresponde a esta impresión de la Typographia Balleoniana. Tratado sistemático de teología católica destinado a la formación de estudiantes y candidatos a los estudios teológicos, obra del capuchino Thomas ex Charmes, uno de los manualistas de teología escolástica del siglo XVIII. Este primer tomo comprende los prolegómenos generales y los tratados dedicados a Dios uno y trino, Dios creador, la Encarnación y la gracia. La exposición sigue el método escolástico de cuestiones, objeciones, respuestas, conclusiones y autoridades doctrinales, con abundantes referencias a la Escritura, los Padres de la Iglesia, los concilios y la tradición teológica. La obra de Thomas ex Charmes tuvo una amplia difusión y numerosas reediciones durante los siglos XVIII y XIX como manual de enseñanza eclesiástica. El volumen posee además especial interés como ejemplar de uso, al conservar numerosas anotaciones manuscritas antiguas de carácter académico y devocional y una estampa de Nuestra Señora del Pilar incorporada en las guardas. Estado aceptable, con señales de uso acusadas propias de un volumen de estudio del siglo XVIII. Encuadernación original en pergamino muy patinada, con suciedad, manchas, oscurecimientos y deformaciones; cantos y esquinas rozados y pequeños desgarros y pérdidas superficiales.
