Hardcover. Fourteenth edition, but presumed first thus (SD, NAP) . Hardcover, original tan and maroon pictorial cloth, approximately 7x10 inches, 113 pp, + 26 pp tipped-in ads on glossy paper, illustrated with plates. Very good+ to near fine, no dustjacket. Lower corners bumped, minor soil, lightly age tanned along edges of textblock. Internally 1/4 to 1 inch tear lower edge of first 5 or 6 leaves, a few of the plates are slightly oversized and have a touch of foxing and a few approximately 1/4 inch nicks along edges, otherwise tight, clean, paper crisp, unmarked and apparently never read. Abridged version of the author's biography, his travels, work on railroads, steamships and even as an impoverished bookseller, saloon keeper, etc. , his struggle with alcoholism, and his final redemption and temperance work. Nicely illustrated ads for the Grand Trunk Railway System and other railroads, hotels, resorts, etc. Biography; alcoholic; Americana.

Hardcover. Condition: Good. The book is overall in good condition. The covers have some mild wear. The binding of the book is good and sound. The title page has some small sections of partial detachment. There may also be a plate or 2 with a small section of partial detachment. The pages are toned from age but mostly clean, though there is the very occasional page with some smudging, or minor foxing, staining, grubbiness. Along with that there might be the other occasional page with some kind of other small imperfection that comes with a book this age, like a creased page corner, small tear, tiny chip, minor interior crack or other minor quirk. The book is illustrated with some nice black and white illustrations. All in all, an interesting old book Temperance Movement and disease of Alcoholism.
