Softcover. Condition: Fine. Softcover. Open edition. Author and printer Todd Thyberg founded Angel Bomb Press after several years working with other printers and does both commercial printing and limited edition books. He writes of his powerful and timely book: "With a tip of the hat to printers and activists of the past, American Manifesto calls the United States citizens to action on a number of national concerns-our country's health, leadership, and environment, to name a few. This book was devised as a piece of activist artwork; utilizing my vintage presses as they were originally intended: to make important statements about important issues." He continues: "If America really is the best country on earth.why do so many of our people go hungry? Why do our leaders consistently work for corporate interests rather than individuals' rights? How can our leaders, the media, and we the public still be ignorant to the factual reality of climate change? Why can someone go to prison for a minor drug offense while the people who brought our economy to its knees still receive bonuses? Why are we still taking off our shoes to fly? How can 2/3 of America's population be overweight when people here and around the world are going hungry? How is it acceptable to make fuel from food? Why don't we Americans question policies?" Printed on 100% cotton Crane Lettra paper and bound in bright red paper covers. 12-pages, 3-colors, letterpress printed in three colors on a Heidelberg 10x15 Windmill at Angel Bomb. In fine condition. Measures 6 x 8.5 inches. Unpaginated [12 pages]. PRI/031025.

NEW, UNREAD . Signed and Numbered on the rear dustjacket flap by the Artist/Printer Todd Thyberg. This is #55 of 100 numbered copies of this 20 page special signed edition chapbook. Chapbook is in Fine condition with no visible flaws. Book is protected with a Brodart protective cover. An added Extra is a quarto sheet for this publication. The 14" by 20" sheet is printed on both sides and folds twice to form 8 pages of this book. This was included as an unordered bonus with my order of this title from the Publisher. Description from the Publisher: "The Beast in the Cave, written by H.P. Lovecraft and first published in The Vagrant in 1905 is a classic pulp story with a dramatic twist ending. The story is a claustrophobic tale of a visitor lost in Mammoth Cave who begins to hear noises and panics in the eldritch darkness. This illustrated edition is my ode to pulp stories of the early 20th century that beguiled me as a youth. This chapbook is a less expensive entry into collecting my work. The book is 6.75x9.5" in size, hand-stitched with two colors of thread, and features black-on-black details printed onto the heavy cover. It features a sewn-in dust jacket of hot stamped Neenah Moondream paper that gives the jacket a watermark look with a translucent image. It also has a sewn-in flashlight bookmark with Lovecraft's famous quote about fear printed on the reverse. Heavily illustrated to provide a sense of claustrophobia as the protagonist wanders frightfully in the overwhelming darkness of the cave. This book is a great example of 'fear of the other' which is a common theme of my work. Features an afterword by me, the artist and printer. It is limited to an edition of 100 signed and numbered copies. 6.75x9.5" Printed on 100# Classic Crest Bound in Gmund Heidi Dull Black with sewn-in hot stamped Neenah Moondream dust jacket." The quote on the back of the flashlight bookmark reads " The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown . H. P. Lovecraft" This is a beautifully produced, hand-crafted, unusual, and scarce book. Books are Carefully Packed and Shipped Daily with Delivery Confirmation from a Dry, Smoke-Free shop.

From the Publisher: "The Things is a horrifying story about an alien creature, thawed from the ice, who tries to understand the limitations and violent nature of the humans it experiences upon awakening. This being, a hive-mind and mutable biomass views the universe through a different lens which is why I chose to print it's thoughts and struggles in a totally unique way. Throughout the story, the creature is trying to understand its surroundings; by viewing the book with the aid of a UV flashlight you see these thoughts and see the world through the eyes of an alien being. Bold pen and ink illustrations are printed throughout that interact with the UV illustrations. Under normal light, the alien's thoughts appear as a blind impression, visible, but subtle. When viewed with a UV light, the illustrations unite and form a deeper narrative. The afterword features an interview with Peter Watts, who discusses this story. Standard edition, quarter-bound in Japanese book cloth with foil stamped logo and complimentary blue cloth on the spine. This edition comes with a blue metallic dust jacket UV printed and foil stamped for a high contrast, tactile experience.
