The text supported by numerous colour illustrations by Hancke Verner. Gilt embossed title to the spine. The tail of the spine a little bumped and the spine faded. The wrapper has not been price-clipped. It is faded to the spine with some rubbing to the head of the spine and a little rub mark towards the tail of the spine. A slight stain to the head of the wrapper. A very good copy with good wrapper.

16 S. Original-Broschur. Theologische und kirchenpolitische Replik des Autors Thyge Thygesen auf ein Sendschreiben des dänischen Theologen Hans Lassen Martensen. Martensen, ein einflussreicher Professor und späterer Bischof in Kopenhagen, hatte sich in einem Brief an den Oberconsistorialrath Nikolaus Johann Ernst Nielsen in Schleswig zur Frage des Amtseides geäußert. Der Kern der Auseinandersetzung lag in der politisch-religiösen Spannung der 1850er Jahre in den Herzogtümern Schleswig und Holstein. Es ging um die Verpflichtung der Geistlichkeit gegenüber der dänischen Krone und die Frage, inwieweit der geleistete Amtseid die Loyalität in den nationalen Konflikten jener Zeit band. Thygesen trat in seiner Schrift gegen Martensens Argumentation auf und verteidigte die Position derschleswig-holsteinischen Geistlichkeit, die sich im Zuge der Erhebung gegen Dänemark in einem Gewissenskonflikt bezüglich ihrer Eidspflichten sah.
