Signed by Walker on the half title page. This book is much newer in appearance, texture, and color than the original. It could have been a 50th anniversary printing by The Steck Company before they went out of business in 1997-1998. Walker was paralyzed in a ski accident in January 1998 making this book some sort of a pre-1998 publication from the original plates. Book is tight, square, and unmarked. Book Condition: Very Good +; foxing to textblock top and front and rear endpapers; slight shelfwear to head, tail, and tips. DJ: Near Fine; NOT Priced; light bumping to head and tail. Green tweed boards and spine with maroon lettering on the spine and front board. Signature has been authenticated by JSA with card laid in and sticker on the FFFP. 258 pp 8vo. Ewell Doak Walker Jr. was Hollywood handsome, extraordinarily modest, and physically, the most talented (triple-threat /punt, pass, kick) football star of his decade (the late1940s). He was the quintessential role-model for high school and college and one of the few football players who earned selection for the College and the Pro Football Halls of Fame. He won the Heisman Trophy in 1948, the Maxwell Award in 1947 and was a 3 time All American (1946,47, 48). He then played 6 years for the Detroit Lions. He was Rookie of the Year, 4 times All Pro, 2 time scoring leader, and won 2 NFL Championships. A clean very presentable copy in a Brodart mylar jacket. Signed by Author(s).
