Original brochure. Condition: Gut. 64 p., per page one or two pictures. A very good copy- From the introduction: Older people in the Redruth area will remember the "penny postcard" photographer, Caddy, whose photographs of Cornish mines, views and such events as Methodist "tea treat" processions were on sale in local shops fifty years ago. It was the gift of one of these postcards, actually a photograph of Wheal Agar pumping engine, which started my lifelong hobby of collecting photographs of Cornish mines. That which began as a single penny photograph has now become a collection numbering thousands and is still growing. In addition, over the intervening years I have taken many photographs myself and it is most interesting to take these out at times and look back over this record ofwhat has happened to the industry during one's own lifetime. Occasionally it has been possible to record something quite unique - such as the sudden collapse of the massive headgear at East Pool in 1953 but the greatest thrill has always been to discover anold photograph of something which one never thought one would ever see, and a few of these still do turn up from time to time.
