Defective copy of this rare emblem book, sold as is. Part one only, without the Enchiridion de Epicteto Gentil, with evidence of an interesting cancellation on page 81 (leaf L1) featuring two letterpress slips: at the top the headline, page number, and title of the engraving; at the bottom five lines of verse, signature mark, and catchword; two separate slips of paper and pasted onto the sheet, with the engraving printed over the cancel slip at the top. Bound in handsome 20th century full Spanish calf. Leaves with scattered staining, tears, and occasional losses throughout. Sold as a collection of emblems.
