The information in this material characterizes winter vetch as a favorable forage crop, a source of forage with high energy and nutritional value. Additional information was obtained about the morphobiological variability of the quantitative signs of this crop, and the possibilities for the identification of the genotype by phenotype according to the ecological-genetic model. A comparative assessment of phenotypic variability, adaptability, and ecological stability was performed. In light of the above, it is necessary to expand the sowing of this crop while identifying the seed yield. All this implies an intensification of scientific research to develop new high-yielding varieties and organize a seed production system. Varieties of winter vetch have been identified, which can serve as a source for creating new artificial populations (varieties) adapted to growing conditions in a temperate climate. 148 pp. Englisch.

Genotypes, which differ in a complex of economic and biological traits and high seed productivity, are selected. Based on the conducted researches, the breeding value of the accessions regarding studied features, their use in the breeding process are determined. A comparative assessment is performed in terms of phenotypic variability, adaptability, and ecological stability. Genotypes characterized by high seed productivity, tolerance to Fusarium oxysporum, favorable biochemical composition, and in vitro digestibility were selected using the method of multiple individual selection of the hybrid material.
