Leather Bound. pp. [8], iii-viii, 152, [10]. 12°. Full brown leather over boards with gilt rules to the spine, and margins of the boards; five raised bands, six compartments. Engraved frontispiece depicting the genealogical tree of the Portugese royal family, with a resting, "Emanuel XIV D. of Portugal", beneath. Features an approving statement by the, l'Abbé Richard, who praises de Verto and his work for "the beauty of his narration, the purity of his style, the reality of his facts, the solidity of his proofs, by which they are confirmed and every where conspicuous". High praise, indeed. Leather extremities are lightly rubbed, some scuffing as is to be expected of a volume of this age; slight bow to the front board. Internally, the top margin of the ffep has been excised otherwise, remains complete with the text-block bright, clean, and unmarked with secure, sound binding. The leather binding has recently been professionally replenished, and treated with a natural leather preserver. Scarce; no copies of this edition and by this printer available in commerce at time of cataloguing. A handsome presentation; very good. See, ESTC Citation: 006352504/T81956, corresponds to OCLC #519429590.
