A dramatization of the final years of Emperor Paul I of Russia, following his increasing paranoia and madness in the face of murderous conspiracies to overthrow him from the throne. 7 x 9 inches. Vintage borderless linen-backed photograph of actress Florence Vidor and an unknown male actor, circa 1920s. Texas-born actress Vidor began her career through the urging of her husband, noted director King Vidor. She signed with Vitagraph Studios in 1916, and appeared in her breakthrough role as Mimi in "A Tale of Two Cities" that same year. She also starred in several films with her husband's production company, including "The Other Half" (1919), "The Family Honor" (1920), and "Real Adventure" (1922). As with many of her contemporaries, she found the transition to sound film difficult, and after appearing in one talkie, "Chinatown Nights" (1929), she retired from film altogether. 6.75 x 8.75 inches.
