Y todo esto, en medio de los tuareg que no conocen a Jesús, en pleno desierto del Sáhara. Su vida, hasta su muerte, tendrá como raíles conductores la presencia de Jesucristo en la Eucaristía, ante la que ora y adora, y en los pobres, a quienes sirve. Se anonadó, para estar más cerca de Cristo, pasó haciendo el bien y fue asesinado vilmente. Su espíritu pronto cruzó las barreras de naciones y creencias. Y fueron apareciendo instituciones, con diverso grado de compromiso, inspiradas en su espiritualidad radical.
