Mabel Lucie Attwell (1879 -1964) was a British children's book illustrator known for her cute, nostalgic drawings of children. Her drawings were also featured on many postcards, advertisements, posters and figurines. Capt. Edric Vredenburg may be less known today; he was a thriller writer who turned to writing and editing books for the very young and used the name 'Father Tuck'.

Please note that the 10th plate appears at page 110 rather than page 114 as stated in the list of colour plates.
