Cloth. Condition: As is. No Jacket. This book has been bound in a medium blue cloth with gilt decoration and lettering on the spine and the front board. There is corner bumping, rubbing and edge wear. The interior hinge has seperated from the back board. The text has yellowed with age but there is very little foxing and the binding remains quite solid. The text illustrations retain their protective tissue sheets. The tissue has yellowed with age but the tints of the illustrations remain sharp. A portrait of Alexander Von Humboldt has been affixed to the paste down front end paper. A bookseller seal has been embossed on the front end paper, also an owners stamp and name in pencil. On the next page is a gift inscription in pencil dated 1860.
