Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. This collection of moving black-and-white photographs of recipients of the Medal of Honor shows not the glory of war, but the underlying spirit and humanity of true heroism. Forty-eight portraits are combined with comments, observations, and statements from the recipients of America's highest military honor. This compilation of words and pictures of men who served in the U.S. Navy, Air Force, Army, and Marine Corps is both humbling and poignant. Their actions and lives vary as much as the conflicts (World War II, Korea, and Vietnam) and include a conscientious objector who never wielded a weapon and a man known as the "Last Eagle, " as he was the last World War II pilot to retire. Each recipient's full official citation is included in the appendix. Piece(s) of the spine missing. Moderate edgewear on the boards. Please note the image in this listing is a stock photo and may not match the covers of the actual item. Book.

Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: very good. Canvas style cloth hardcover in jacket. Signed by Medal of Honor recipients James Allen Taylor and James Elms Swett on their pages, and photographer's signature and inscription to the front free-endpaper, "To: Joe, Discover the Wonderfulness of Ordinary. Thanks for all your help. God Bless! Best Regards, Casalini." A near fine copy - clean and solid with straight edges and corners. Other than the inscriptions, the word "Buzz" to the top of the free-endpaper is the only marking. Unclipped dustjacket is very good with some soiling to the white panels, indentions near the rear joint, and a bit of ruffling to the panel edges. 160 pp., a beautiful collection of full page black and white photos of recipients of the Medal of Honor. This copy does not have the word "Congressional" in the title, perhaps indicating an early edition, although no statement of edition is present.

Fine condition beige cloth boards with black front cover and spine lettering contained in a near fine condition color photographic dust jacket. Includes Dedications; Acknowledgments and The Congressional Medal of Honor Citations. Profusely illustrated with black-and-white portrait photographs. Signed by Author Tom Casalini with thick black Sharpie/marker on a new condition bookplate which is not affixed to the volume. The bookplate is titled: The Prologue Society, Dedicated to the Appreciation of History: "What Is Past Is Prologue". "Ordinary Heroes is a brilliant title as this book speaks of the ordinary lives from which heroes emerge and to which most return. And it is a perfect ocymoron as we learn here of the extraordinary courage in combat that brought them the nation's highest honor." - Walter Cronkite. "I couldn't put it down. Such honest pictures. It was a project that was done with complete integrity." - Barney Barnum, President, The Congressional Medal of Honor Society. "We were delighted with the book. We enjoyed he captions with every picture and just can't get over how well you photographed me. I'm very proud of the way that you captured my heart and feelings about being Indian and of being a soldier." - Ernest Childers, Medal of Honor Recipient. Mr. Casalini's photographs show us how we are - ordinary citizens who honor our flag and love our nation. It is noteworthy that no recipient is shown in uniform and not one is wearing or otherwise displaying his Medal of Honor." - Charles P. Murray, Medal of Honor Recipient. "This outstanding piece of work has captured a view of Medal of Honor Recipients that has never before been portrayed so dramatically. I have revisited the book several times, yet each time I find another message or embrace a new insight into the lives and memories of my fellow recipients. Hopefully, the readers of Ordinary Heroes will understand the importance of this work and the very important message it carries." - Harold "Hal" Fritz, Medal of Honor Recipient. Signed by Author(s).
