A large portion of the experimental works was sent through the postal service by artists across Latin America and Europe, effectively bypassing the restrictions and censorship imposed by military dictatorships at the time. Alongside the Prospectiva 74 exhibition (held at the same museum in 1974), Poéticas Visuais consolidated MAC USP as the leading hub for conceptual and multimedia art in Brazil during the 1970s.
